Description
The song "Du kansst es nich wissen" is probably the least popular of all Zarah Leander's repertoire; hard to find it on any CD re-editions, never played; no wonder - it cannot be called a "Schlager" although was recorded as a reverse side of the record with the most popular and perhaps most important hit ever sung by the star: "Der Wind hat mir ein Lied erzählt", featured in the film "La Habanera", 1937.
Yet, for me, that "unknown" song has a special charm and always reminds me of the absolutely warm and touching scene in the film "La Habanera" in which Zarah - at the piano, looking most beautifully - is singing for his film-son the song, being a sort of a fairy-tale about the far-away land, things and habits for him unknown: "You cannot know it...".

Her own son Göran at the moment of filming that scene was aged 8.
In the video, there is presented a book about Zarah Leander, published in Berlin 1939, describing her life until her first successes in German spoken films had happened with many photos of that period, a piece of original sheet music of the song, Hungarian 78rpm Odeon pressing of the recording and the front page of the Munich newspaper, 24 June 1981, announcing the death of the actress: "Zarah Leander has died in the arms of her son". -
During transfer from the original 78rpm schellac - no sound modifications were applied.
The video was made on May 10th 2008 and seems to have been waiting for the right moment to appear...;-)
The video was granted "high quality of watching" !
