Description
This song was written in 1887 by Daniel de Marbelle, a European immigrant, veteran of the American Civil War and Mexican War.
it is also known by the title There's a land beyond the River.
However Marbelle did not copywrite the song and died penniless. It was first recorded in 1915 by the Imperial Quartet. And has been recorded by several artists over the years.
this version by Lorretta Lynn was sung in 1965 on her Hymns album.
and does not include the second verse.
" We shall know no sin or sorrow
in that haven of tomorrow
when our barque shall sail beyond the silver sea
We shall only know the blessing
of our Fathers sweet caressing
When they ring those Golden Bells for you and me"
there are several changes made from the original lyrics.
original says....
"only reach that shore by faiths decree one by one we'll gain the portals there to dwell with the immortals....."
" when the king commands the spirit to be free, Nevermore with anguish laden, we shall reach that lovely aiden....."
i do not own any rights to this song its music lyrics or vocals. I am just trying to spread Gods love and message one lyric at a time.
