Joining with hosts of Christians from the United Kingdom and overseas, we pray for God's 'shalom' peace over Jerusalem and the land of Israel.
Following the attrocities carried out by Hamas on 7th October 2023 against Israel, the urgency to bring many praying voices together to record this song intensified. Not only is every Christian commanded in Scripture to pray for Israel and the peace of Jerusalem, but as a body of people we need to be better informed to stand with her in such a desperate time of need, and in any way that we can.
This extended version incorporates a prayer inspired by Isaiah 61, led by Gordon Beattie, who together with his wife Karen co-ordinate and co-lead the UK prayer for Israel under 'ICEJ', who have been holding daily prayer vigils since the war began. Together we can speak the heart of God over His people, and over His land and stand in solidarity with Israel.
Lyrics:
We speak peace over Jerusalem
We speak peace over the land
Anachnu omrim shalom al Yerushalayim
Anachnu omrim shalom al haAretz
אנחנו אומרים שלום על ירושלים
אנחנו אומרים שלום על הארץ
Shalom (peace) meaning:
Completeness in number,
Safety and soundness in body,
Welfare, health and prosperity, tranquility and contentment,
Friendship with one another and in covenant relationship with God,
Peace from war, and peacefulness in one's day to day.
