Stanza 1:
Hear de cries in de streets at night
So many dreams gone out like light
Youths dem caught in a system cold
Chasing shadows that take their soul
But de rhythm of hope is strong
Feel de beat it guide us along
Plant de seed of change in de ground
And reap de fruits of love from this song
CHORUS
I’m sure we can rise from de shadows as we shine
Through the pain and de sorrows leave de darkness behind
For the youths and de future let de healing begin
In the rhythm of we island let love pull us in
So come from de dust till dawn
As we rise up every morn
We fly through de skies like rain
Our people will rise again’
Hand in hand is how we’ll start
Everyone can play their part
Man, woman and child come in
Let de cleansing begin
Stanza 2
For de common man times real hard
Crime and murders driving we mad
And de youts dem chyan find no work
Cause de system take dem for joke
Let de positive vibe control
We must not lose sight of our goal
Inspite the stress and the strain
Let us build our country again
CHORUS
Stanza 3
Politician drive their nice car
While de poor man bite he finger
De oil money blow way like dust
De people doh know who to trust
But every crisis we will master
And rise to triumph from disaster
We will cast de evil away
We make this solemn pledge here today
CHORUS
Stanza 4
From de ghetto I born and grow
I learn to make joy from sorrow
Though my story was hardship and pain
Ah see de blessings falling like rain
And every time de setbacks would come
I keep de faith and weathered the storm
With every step and toil I strive
Just to keep my dream alive
