Flipside: WALKING IN THE RAIN – Here is one of the really great classic ballads from my music collection. Robert Carr and Johnny Mitchell were an American doo-wop duo better known as Robert & Johnny and hailed from The Bronx, New York.
The duo released about a dozen singles for Old Town Records in the late 1950s and early 1960s. They wrote most of their own songs and 2 of them charted nationally on Billboard. Their biggest and considered their signature song, this upload “WE BELONG TOGETHER”, charted in March 1958 for 22 weeks and reached #32. It was a giant hit for them!
The song was covered by many artists: Ritchie Valens, The Belmonts, Jimmy Velvet, Peaches & Herb, The Videls (up-tempo), Los Lobos, too many more to list.
