SONG: Cry Me a River
ARTIST: Julie London
ALBUM: Julie Is Her Name (1955)
WRITER: Arthur Hamilton (1953)
INSTRUMENTS:
- ELECTRIC GUITAR: Barney Kessel
- DOUBLE BASS: Ray Leatherwood
By now, this song is a classic jazz standard. This version, however, was the breakthrough of the song, when it became a hit for Julie London in 1955 and subsequently appeared in the 1956 comedy "The Girl Can't Help It". This recording also greatly aided the musical career of jazz-guitarist Barney Kessel who arranged and recorded the recognizable chord voicings of the intro-section.
