At the d.b.a., Jan. 12, 2019. One of my favorite rags that the band plays. Composed by May Aufderheide in 1909 at the age of 21. After receiving formal musical training she toured Europe returning home to compose ragtime. She must have been a remarkable young lady in her time. I see parallels with Shaye: beautiful, dark curly hair, talented, formal training and choosing a unique form of music to express her talents. Although I can find no specific reference, one can assume as a composer of ragtime that she also, like Shaye, played piano.
