Description: In compiling this delightful collection of songs, the Mills Brothers have drawn from a wide variety of sources. Current Broadway musicals provided some (Sherry, Hallelujah Baby!). Others (The Bramble Bush, Fortuosity) are from recent motion pictures, and a few (Happy Together, I Found A Love, More And More) were culled from the pop-tune charts. The album is rounded out with three brand new originals (Long Long Ago, Everybody's Friend, Cab Driver-the last written by the composer of "Somethin' Stupid").
The Mills Brothers have always had a way of putting their own unmistakable vocal stamp on the songs they sing, however variegated the material. Here, the catalytic ingredients are the taste and talent of Sy Oliver, whose background arrangements always enhance, never intrude.
To borrow a phrase from the title song, this album is one of those "happy happenstances" which, if you happen to be sufficiently endowed with serendipity, will shower you with "fortuosity".
