Description

This was recorded on September 21st 1932 by Arthur Lally and his orchestra, with a Xylophone solo by Rudy Starita. The song is sung by Al Bowlly.

Although Stan was in England with Oliver in the summer of 1932 they had returned to the USA by the time of this recording, even though they had visited the studios. He wrote the following letter by hand to a friend from the Hal Roach Studios on September 20th - supersonic travel was not something enjoyed then:

I met Dave Beekler in N.Y. He gave me your address - wish you would drop in at the studio - would love to see you. Am starting a new picture tomorrow, come & have lunch with me - any way -

On September 21st 1932 Laurel and Hardy began filming "Their First Mistake" released November 5th 1932.


Would have been nice to think that it was Stan!

In 1932, lyrics were added for the piece, now called "Dance of the Cuckoos", which was played by the London Symphony Orchestra. The lyrics were by Harry Steinberg.
