Description
"Real Love" was released as a Beatles single in 1996 in the United Kingdom, United States and many other countries. It respectively reached number 4 and number 11 in the UK and US singles charts, and earned a gold record more quickly than a number of the group's other singles. Although "Real Love" was more complete than "Free as a Bird", the song suffered from problems with Lennon's timing. The first obstacle that the team had to confront was the low quality of the demo, as Lennon had recorded it on a handheld tape recorder. During the recording process, it was decided to speed up the tape, thereby raising the key from D minor to E♭ minor.
Track Listing:
00:00 "Real Love"
03:55 "Baby's In Black"
06:59 "Yellow Submarine"
09:47 "Here, There and Everywhere"
"Real Love" was not included on the BBC Radio 1 playlist, prompting criticism from fans and British Members of Parliament. The track opened the Beatles' Anthology 2 album. "Real Love" was the last new Beatles song released in the lifetime of George Harrison, who died in 2001, and the last single by the group until "Now and Then" in 2023.

REAL LOVE (John Lennon)
Publisher: Lennono Music Inc.
Recorded: New York, circa 1979, and Sussex, England, February 1995
Producers: Jeff Lynne, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr
Engineer: Geoff Emerick, Jon Jacobs
Audio Sequencing: Marc Mann
A year after releasing Free As A Bird, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr completed a second unfinished John Lennon recording, adding new vocal and instrumental tracks to strengthen and enrich the original sound from John's cassette. Real love and care was invested and fine is the result.
BABY'S IN BLACK (John Lennon, Paul McCartney)
Publisher: Northern Songs
Recorded: Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, 29, 30 August 1965
Producer: Voyle Gilmore
Final Mix Producer: George Martin
Remix Engineer: Geoff Emerick
Recorded by Capitol when the Beatles gave two concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in August 1965 (the introduction is from the first night, the music from the second), this previously unissued live performance of Baby's In Black affords an excellent insight into the music and excitement of Beatlemania.
YELLOW SUBMARINE (John Lennon, Paul McCartney)
Publisher: Northern Songs
Recorded: EMI Studios, London, 26 May and 1 June 1966
Producer: George Martin
Engineer/Remix Engineer: Geoff Emerick
This new mix of the Yellow Submarine master emphasises its many and varied sound effects and features, unmissably, a novel introduction to the song, spoken by Ringo over marching sound effects, that has remained unheard until now.
HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE (John Lennon, Paul McCartney)
Publisher: Northern Songs
Recorded: EMI Studios, London, 16 June 1966
Producer: George Martin
Engineer/Remix Engineer: Geoff Emerick
As released on Revolver, Here, There Everywhere was a lavish blend of Paul's lead vocal, combined with Beatle harmonies and elegant instrumentation. Issue here for the first time is a combination of Take 7 (the basic track with Paul's simple but effective guide vocal) and - superimposed near the end - a 1995 remix of those harmonies, as overdubbed onto Take 13.
