I discovered Shawn Ishimoto on TikTok this past spring. His sense of flow and precision, combined with the fact that he plays totally blind was really striking to me. I browsed through his many videos, and eventually landed on this cover he did of 'Ramblin' Man', and it just nailed me. I was eyes-glued for the whole video. Something about it resonated so deeply that it brought me to tears. I found myself the next day singing it incessantly with so much joy, and getting all these fun vocal ideas, so I decided that weekend to just sing them as-is overtop of his rendition.

My voice takes a lot of space in the mix, so you can't hear his voice very well unfortunately, but I highly encourage you to go have a listen to the original video on his TikTok page: @shawnishimoto

Interestingly, he and I started our respective journeys on TikTok right around the same time last November. I personally think he deserves a lot more recognition for his work, he's a truly great player and spirit. I also encourage you to check out his rendition of 'Ain't No Sunshine'. That was the video I originally discovered him through and it's just brilliant.
