"Sweet Home Chicago" is an enduring blues classic, first recorded by Robert Johnson in 1936. Although he is often credited as the songwriter, this has long been disputed as several similar tunes have been identified as precedents.

With the song having been recorded by quite a few artists in various styles along the way, even the origin and meaning of the original lyrics have come into question, and have been interpreted in many different ways over the years,

Clapton’s version doesn’t dwell too much on the lyrics though, as it is mainly a showpiece for his musicianship as one of the world’s leading blues guitarists.

So my vocal coverage here doesn’t get much of a look in. Even so, it’s a pleasure to sing along with such a wonderful musical arrangement, and I hope you enjoy it!
