Description
Suntory Hall is pleased to mark the European premiere of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s orchestral work “Hibiki” at the BBC Proms on 14 August 2017. The work was originally commissioned by Suntory Hall in Tokyo to commemorate its 30th anniversary in 2016. “Hibiki” means in Japanese “beautiful sound” and “resonance”, Hibiki is written as “響” in Japanese, and it is an apt title as this word is used in Suntory Hall’s logo. It is also the name of Suntory’s famed whisky.
Conductor:Kazushi Ono, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra
