“Sue Rynhart’s poetic creativity seemingly knows no bounds, blending her cultural roots with an oblique, contemporary vision. An absolute joy to be present.” - London Jazz News
Sue Rynhart is a trinity of impacts: she is an excellent vocal technician, a captivating singer and an accomplished songwriter and lyricist.
With an extensive background in early music, classical, choral singing and improvisation she often sings in a very bright clear voice with folk, early music and jazz influences. She creates an edgy blend of modern jazz and different sounds often pushing the music forward with her own unique vision of things.
Back at Galway Jazz Festival, award winning pianist extraordinaire Huw Warren met rising young vocalist Sue Rynhart and they decided to jam and see what happened. Well what happened is a slew of originals, re-thinkings, strange wonderful takes on Alban Berg, traditional Irish song and more. - Bernard Clarke, The Blue of the Night RTÉ Lyric fm
“Vakkert!” - Salt Peanuts
"Enigmatic, bewitching sung poetry" - All About Jazz
“Utterly unique” - Irish Times
We are on time
Lyrics and music by Sue Rynhart
In all the time we’re given to enjoy
How could I have forgotten you?
When grass is sweet between our toes we roll
Down a hill of summer chasing life.
What was then we never knew could stay
A prayer to cling to when we’re low.
You have given me a place
Someone for a ball to throw.
These happy thoughts are resting in my mind,
I’ll leave them there for someone else to find.
We are on time,
We don’t need to rewind;
Our hands are free to go plant flower seeds.
Poppy, Daisy time to shine!
If I’d only make the time.
Night scented stock fill the air,
Then I’ll put some flowers in my hair.
Grass stained jeans, wheelbarrow racing free,
Cotton wool and gravel on my knee,
The tang of classroom oranges, books to hold,
Nature table’s moss and mould.
For the person who always was there,
Until they’re gone you realised you cared.
To take for granted all of the fresh air
And the trees to hold you there.
We are on time,
We don’t need to rewind;
Our hands are free to go plant flower seeds.
