Description
Stuart HAMBLEN was born to the family of an itinerant Methodist preacher on 20 October 1908, in Kelleyville, Texas. From 1931-52, he had a series of highly popular radio-programs on the West Coast of the United Sates. Hamblen composed music for such stars as Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and of course for none less than ROSEMARY CLOONEY who's recording of "THIS OLE HOUSE" hit No. 1 worldwide. The song was inspired while on a hunting trip in the High Sierras with a friend. They came upon what looked like an abandoned shack wherein they found the body of an elderly man, who apparently died of natural causes. He came up with the lyrics to the song while riding horseback down the mountain, and composed the melody within a week. Another Hamblen-song is "Go On By" which Rosemary Clooney recorded in 1955. In that same year Rosemary Clooney and her half-sister Gail also had a hit single with "Open Up Your Heart (And Let the Sunshine In). The tune hit No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop charts, and was even played on an episode of the television cartoon series "The Flinstones" (around 1965, sung by Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm). - However, here is the song that Rosemary Clooney recorded in August 1950 for Columbia Records, and we thought you might also like to hear Hamblen's (1976) version of "(Remember Me) I'm the One Who Loves You."
