Story about a White Horse (Voice of Korea 2015)
"The Memory of a White Horse" is found in Volume 3 of the Reminiscences "With the Century" written by President Kim Il Sung, the great leader of the Korean people.
President Kim Il Sung impressively recalled a white horse in the days of his great revolutionary life. Here is a story about it.
The white horse Kim Il Sung would often remember was captured in a battle during the anti-Japanese armed struggle.
When the battle was in full swing, a white horse ran to the place where he was commanding the battle. The orderly drove it away, in case it should attract the enemy´s attention to the command post. But the white horse simply balked, with its legs rooted to the ground.
When Kim Il Sung stroked its mane, the white horse politely kept nodding forward and backward. The ensuing acts of the white horse whose brave deed was mysterious greatly surprised the people.
When the battle to defend Xiaowangqing was raging, Kim Il Sung was commanding the battle in the barrage of fire. In the barrage of fire even the fur lining of his overcoat caught fire. But he did not notice it as he was commanding the battle. It was only when the horse began to run with the wind that he discovered the flames on his coat. At this critical moment, the horse slowed down in front of a snow-covered depression and then slid into it sideways, with his forelegs folded in.
Kim Il Sung stumbled into the snow, and the fire on his coat was put out as he rolled over in it. The horse´s two legs were bleeding. After all, the white horse became a reliable "bodyguard" to defend the Korean revolution.
As to it, President Kim Il Sung reminisced:
"I marvelled at the horse´s seemingly supernatural powers. How could he sense that I was in a fire? It still remains a mystery to me."
Guerrillas and people marvelled at the surprising fact, saying in unison that even the white horse recognized General Kim Il Sung and he is surely a heaven-born great man. Since then the white horse became a legend, beloved of all people in the guerrilla zone.
Afterwards, the story of the horse spread to the semi-guerrilla zones around Xiaowangqing and even to the enemy-ruled areas, along with the rumour that even a sharp-cut cliff is lowered, the river in torrents is split and even the bullets become impotent before the white horse ridden by General Kim Il Sung.
