The original Skyliners consisted of: Jimmy Beaumont, Joe Verscharen, Janet Vogel, Jack Taylor, & Wally Lester. The group name came from a 1944 Charlie Barnet recording called, "Skyliner", made on Decca. A little known fact, there had been a group previously calling themselves, "The Skyliners", who were the featured vocal group with Ray Anthony & His Orchestra in the early 1950's.
"Since I Don't Have You" was featured in the 1973 film, "American Graffiti" and the 1983 science-fiction film, "Strange Invaders". Both films starred actor, Paul Le Mat .
The Skyliners appeared on Dick Clark's "American Bandstand" on Friday, February 13, 1959, where they performed, "Since I Don't Have You". The song first hit the charts on February 16, 1959, peaked at #12 & stayed on the charts for 19 weeks.
