「Shima Uta」

We were inspired by Natsukawa Rimi's version of this song that shakes people to their core. This Okinawan melody tells of life during World War 2 where the local people suffered and hid from the American invasion in caves because they knew they were hunted.

They would think fondly about their loved ones, whether they were separated by mountains or seas, and in those caves, they would eventually meet their end. Sugar canes would blow in the wind nearby, and that's where they would quickly meet each other to say their goodbyes.
