Sea of Galilee 2019 Serbs Singing A Serbian Woman Gave Birth to Me on the Holy Waters Where Christ

In the year of our Lord 2019, I was blessed with the opportunity to visit the Holy Land, including Jerusalem and the Sea of Galilee – the sacred place where our Lord Jesus Christ began His holy mission, called His disciples, and performed many miracles.

It was on these very waters – also known as the Lake of Tiberias – that Christ walked on water (Matthew 14:25), calmed the storm, multiplied loaves and fishes, and invited fishermen to become "fishers of men".

During our pilgrimage, a group of faithful Serbs boarded a large wooden boat for a symbolic and spiritual ride across the holy lake. When the captain heard that Orthodox Christians from Serbia were on board, he respectfully raised a large Serbian tricolor flag with the national coat of arms, which proudly waved in the wind.

🎶 As we boarded the vessel, powerful Serbian spiritual and patriotic music began to play. One song in particular touched all our hearts:
“A Serbian Woman Gave Birth to Me” – a song we all sang loudly and with emotion, with tears in our eyes and faith in our souls. The lake echoed with our voices and our love for God and homeland.

🙏 During the sail, Father Nikola and Bishop Antonije spoke about the miracles of Christ on the Sea of Galilee, including:
– how He walked on the water,
– how He calmed the storm with a single word,
– how He called Peter to step out in faith,
– and how He began His ministry by gathering His disciples on these very shores, who would go on to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

📿 Wherever Serbs go – there is prayer, there is faith, there is joy. There was even traditional Serbian kolo dancing on the boat as people rejoiced, celebrated, and gave thanks to God for His mercy and blessings.
