Wilson Pickett's classic 1965 hit 'In The Midnight Hour' being given the disco treatment here in 1979 by Samantha Sang - the lead single from her follow up to 'Emotion' - 'From Dance To Love'. As with Linda Clifford's cover of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' - some classics are better left to their original genre or form, but there is something still vibey about this long version of the song. I enjoyed Sang's 'Emotion' the year before, but ultimately found the breathy, soft vocals a bit naff, and have preferred her more gutsy performances. but i am clearly in the minority as Samantha is really only knows worldwide for the Bee Gees penned 'Emotion'. The singer returned to her original homeland of Australia where she has continued to record and tour.
