Description
OUT OF AFRICA series: 5/5...
An UNRELEASED LEGEND...
AFRO-COSMIC-PUNK-DISCO... were the words described by Master Winwood when he was asked by Melody Maker about his second collaboration with Master Kabaka, on April 28, 1976... The quote from the magazine reads as follows: "I was getting very stuck for time as I had agreed to start rehearsing with Stomu, so it was a bit impossible to do anything else. Therefore, it was just kind of left. It wasn't African music. Let's just say "Afro-Cosmic-Punk-Disco". There was good stuff on it."
The album SON OF AFRICA, to this day, officially remains unreleased. The album is a complete Afro-Funk Masterpiece. There have been many speculations over the years for an official release, yet to be materialised. It is clear that Master Winwood is at least on the Hammond on the opening superfunk KABAKA alongside Master Baah who is on the Conga Drums...
I hope to unearth more goodies from this album very soon after delving into further details with Phil Ramacon himself who also plays Keyboards on the album... Phil, of course worked, wrote and recorded with Master Wood in the late 1970's... A conversation, I am much looking forward to... The album additionally features Pete Bonas as well as Robert Bailey amongst others...
On a side note Master Kabaka released the album ROOTS FUNKADELIA in1980, album's opener "Afro Beat" sounds like an amalgamation of his work from SON OF AFRICA & AIYE KETA...
The OUT OF AFRICA projects concludes with a BANG...
Enjoy Loud...
