200 years after Richard Wagner was born, the Cologne Male Voice Choir sang a concert featuring some of the composer's most famous works as well as songs written by some of his friends - and some of his adversaries. Passionately loved and passionately hated, more than 130 years after his death Richard Wagner is still a polarizing figure.
The pilgrims' chorus opens the third act of Richard Wagner's "Tannhäuser": "Beglückt darf nun dich, O Heimat, ich schauen" (Joyfully may I now you, O homeland, behold).
