One of my top 100 albums when I was a kid was Heavy Weather. I was of course a big Jaco Pastorius and Wayne Shorter fan too.

I got a chance to talk to Wayne and Herbie Hancock at the same show in Los Angeles a few years back. I was grinning from ear to ear that day. I remember Wayne talking about his work with a symphony orchestra in Korea, which quickly escalated to talking about flying saucers and aliens. It's what I expected from him. He was such a cool and trippy dude. For someone who wrote some of the quirkiest and best sounding jazz standards to my ears, I would expect nothing less.

PLEASE check out my 2 hour bonus video on Palladium! It takes me a while to compile what I think are good videos. It's certainly a labor of love for what I do for this channel. I hope it inspires you all to practice 40 hours a day.

Jaco's bass groove is ground breaking on this song. It is so cool and melodic. He falls in to the ranks of James Jamerson and Carol Kay as far as thoughtful and beautiful bass lines.
