This song (and female cover, particularly!) just felt so right when making an AMV about some *actual Otherside*, with so many lines matching this much. Hahaha, I'm still giddy about this combo idea. Not everything is exactly in-character, but still, there's a lot of it that just fits Sorawo and Toriko sooo well.

Ok. Hum. For the viewers who may not know about this niche fascination of mine, Otherside Picnic is a passable anime based on a really cool light novel series.

I mean, I did like the anime as my first contact with this universe, because the two protagonists (and their budding attraction) are lovable in spite of the plot holes, frustrating pacing, shuffling of the source material, and the occasional dubious 3D animation.
It's just that... the books take everything to another level. If you're interested in a series with eldritch horrors, ghost stories, discussions on human cognition, a hint of SCP Foundation/The Backrooms, and several wlw romances (including a slow-burn main one), with big character arcs on healing from trauma and grief (or alternatively, if you're looking for an autistic-coded protagonist with PTSD and some dissociative disorder that also has extremely gay inner monologues) - please, give this a try.
The anime just scratches the surface of it - the monster-of-the-week first few Files - and it actually goes so much deeper. Seriously, it's a shame the two-part episodes were made out of the least interesting Files from the books, and that File 8 wasn't adapted. I can only recommend you to stick until then when reading the books: I really think what keeps building up from there is worth it.
