This is piece 24 of my 40-piece piano challenge. It's “O, mein Papa” from the musical Feuerwerk, composed by Paul Burkhard (1911–1977) and arranged for piano by Anne Terzibaschitsch.

The piece is marked Moderato, but I feel it really needs some esprit to come alive. However, playing it with energy can be quite tricky – especially because the melody is written as jumping chords, which makes it difficult to keep clean and accurate at faster tempos.

That’s something I clearly need to work on. My piano teacher (I just had my first lesson last week!) generally recommended slowing down to focus more on accuracy. I'm not quite there yet – still often chasing speed over precision – but I have good intentions and aim to improve in the future.

Recorded with the Bösendorfer Warm sound from Pianoteq 8, played on my Roland RD 2000. Falling note animation was done with piano vfx. Visual storytelling and image generation by ChatGPT.
