MxPx "Let's Ride" Fan Tribute

MxPx's new song "Let's Ride" and the Bryan Buchelt directed video that accompanies it have meaningfully affected me as a life-long MxPx fan. I know I'm not alone in this feeling along with anyone who has felt a connection to the music of MxPx or a sense of community built around or amplified by the band. I wanted to do something special, apart from just a usual meme. Since I already had all of the files left from my recent super-cut of every shot of Yuri from MxPx's music video catalog, what I made here seemed like an obvious step. What I didn't expect was how affected and emotional I would get over the four hours it took me to put this together; and, just when I’d begun to even out from the emotional ride of the official video. I had no clear idea what I was really making until it showed itself, like that old art class saying about letting the stone tell you the sculpture it wants to be. I hope you feel even a fraction of what I felt making this when you watch it. If you do, I'm under no illusions that that feeling is entirely credited to MxPx and the creative people that have worked with them over the years on these videos. Obviously the copyright of everything in this video is owned by them or their record labels and publishers, but also so is any sense of connection you get from this video (maybe that latter part doesn’t belong to the record labels and publishers).

My next step will be to turn this into a lyric video, which will be awesome in its own way. But I think there will be a subtle difference between the two versions. The lyric video will celebrate the new song and how the band got to the point where they recorded it. But this version you are currently looking at is the reverse, a celebration of the band through out the years leading up to the moment they have arrived at now.
