Description
LONDON WIND PLAYERS conducted by HARRY BLECH
Decca AK 2225-6
Rec. September 28, 1946
The Serenade no.11 K.375 (Minuetto and Trio) was not listed in in the Appendix : Recordings of DENNIS BRAIN A biography by Stephen Pettitt, but it was listed in Dennis Brain on Record by Robert L. Marshall. It was probably because K.375 was played by London Wind Players Dennis Brain participated in as with Divertiment no.3 K.166.
It is the most interesting to know the "London Symphony Players" on the label of AK 2225 (DENNIS BRAIN A LIFE IN MUSIC P.247). It could be a typo in "London Symphonic Players" which Harry Blech formed occasionally in 1946.
In the first place, I don't know why Blech changed the players in two recording days. Divertiment K.166 is performed by 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 english horns, 2 french horns and 2 bassoons (10 players), and Serenade K.375 is performed by 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons and 2 french horns (8 players). If 2 members decreased, there would be no need for a large band like Symphony(or Symphonic) Players.
It is a mystery!
