The most popular and iconic song from Modern English is "I Melt With You", which was recorded in 1982 but charted the following year, peaking at #78 on the Billboard Hot 100 (a re-recorded version peaked at #76 in 1990), and #60 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart (the re-recorded version in 1990 peaked at #25 on that same chart). It made the Cash Box Top 100, where it peaked at #68.
The band charted again in 1984 with "Hands Across The Ocean", which was not a bigger hit as "I Melt With You". That single only peaked at #91 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #43 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. This is the single 45 version.
