Description
Bill Withers released his version of "Ain't No Sunshine" in July of 1971. Every time I hear it I think of the sweltering heat of summer. Its been pretty hot here, and that song has been on my mind a lot.
Michael Jackson covered the song for his 1972 solo LP "Got To Be There" and he was able to convey the emotion of missing someone. I messed around a bit with the instruments, arranging it so that it started quiet and built to a rousing chorus near the end.
I followed Ashford & Simpsons's dramatic reworking of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" from Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's uptempo version to the fully orchestrated Diana Ross version. I hope I have succeeded.
Man, its really hot tonight...
