Wewantsounds is delighted to announce a major Makoto Kubota reissue program with three mid-70s albums the legendary musician recorded with his Sunset Gang between 1973 and 1977. A legend in Japan alongside his friend and collaborator Haruomi Hosono (who is present on the three albums), Makoto Kubota has been one of the country's true musical innovators. From his involvement with Les Rallizes Dénudés at the turn of the 60s, he developed a unique sound bringing American, Hawaiian and Okinawan music influences to his own Japanese folk music mix. Starting with the reissue of 'Hawaii Champroo' recorded in Honolulu in 1975 and co-produced with Haruomi Hosono all remastered by Makoto Kubota and each album will come with original artwork with OBI and the original japanese inserts. This is the first time the album is released outside of Japan.
