Description
Franz Liszt was a Hungarian composer, virtuoso pianist, conductor, music teacher, arranger, and organist of the Romantic era. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of all time. He was also a writer, philanthropist, Hungarian nationalist, and Franciscan tertiary. The Consolations are a set of six solo piano works by Liszt written between 1844 and 1849. The compositions take the musical style of Nocturnes with each having its own distinctive style. Each Consolation is composed in either the key of E major or D♭ major. E major is a key regularly used by Liszt for religious themes. No. 1 in E Major which I'm playing here is the shortest and serves as a prelude to the five pieces that follow.
