"If my friends could see me now" was originally composed for the 1966 musical 'Sweet Charity', The movie version three years later saw Shirley Maclaine perform the hit song. 9 years on a disco version was recorded by Linda Clifford and was the title of her full length LP released in 1978.

The discofying of standards was becoming the thing to do,(Bette Midler's 'Strangers in the night', Sheila B Devotion's 'Singin' in the rain' come to mind immediately) and despite originally not being enthused about the prospect of covering 'If my friends could see me now' Linda achieved a #1 disco hit and a minor pop success with it. The version posted here is the original extended mix of the song. It certainly showcases Linda's powerful vocal and the energetic production and orchestrations.
