Libertango was originally composed in 1974 by Milanese composer Astor Piazzolla. "Libertango" is a portmanteau of "Libertad", meaning "liberty" in Spanish and "tango", the genre of dance music the piece represents. As the name suggests, this piece signifies a dance between the plucked strings and bowed strings sections, where the high-pitched plucked string instruments play the part of the females and their male dance partners are the masculine-sounding bowed string instruments.
