Enchanting, beguiling, mysterious, and misunderstood. This is the Everglades.
The Everglades is not just a swamp, it’s the lifeblood of a unique, subtropical ecosystem. It’s a water system that stretches over 1.5 million acres, it’s home to 700+ native species, it’s what makes Florida, Florida.
It’s also been one of the greatest tests between man and Mother Nature. For centuries we’ve tried to reclaim and tame the Everglades, but every time we’ve manipulated its water flow, Mother Nature has penalized us with floods, droughts, and environmental disasters. It took us centuries to realize its importance, and today we’re left with the challenge of repairing our relationship and finding ways to coexist with it.
