“Body and the Brain” is a simple idea concealed within a somewhat mysterious package: Our bodies are guided by certain intuitions and automatic functions that we are often unaware of. Love, loss, desire, ambition, impatience, satisfaction - these are all happening in the background all the time, often hiding “in plain sight”. The song is somehow evocative of the time that we’re living in right now, when Covid forces us to confront that our bodies are more fragile than we maybe ever imagined, and that our individual bodies are more interconnected than we might have realized before.
