Liner notes of the album booklet.

On August 22, 2012 I returned to Paris after spending three intense weeks in New York where I rediscovered that energy so specific to the city and the musicians that give it life. I was tired, but I didn't have the time to take a deep breath because the next morning, at dawn, I was on the train and on my way to the next performance. When I got to the hotel very late that night, I was already starting to feel out of sorts and was experiencing symptoms that I couldn't attribute solely to jet-lag. I was becoming sick. Five torturous days later I was admitted to Saint Antoine Hospital in Paris where I would spend two unforgettable weeks. Unforgettable as much as for the care and devotion of the staff as for the unconditional love and support I received from my family and friends.

Just a couple of months earlier, I had recorded the disc that you are now holding in your hands with two young musicians who served as a wellspring of inspiration for the music. I had met Ralph, my brilliant composition student, at EDIM and he, in turn had introduced me to Nicolas and his crystalline voice. Once together, the music flowed efortlessly. And thanks to the sheer generosity of my cousin Sabine and her companion Alain we spent a week in a weightless state.

These episodes - on the surface unrelated, yet similar because of the relationships they helped forge - brought to close a year of lively exchanges with a large number of important actors in the French jazz community. Together we hoped to find solutions to the ever growing problems that jazz musicians - particularly the youngest ones - and those that support them must face.

Today , with more perspective, it is easy for me to draw connections between these experiences and to sketch out a roadmap made up of friendship, self-discovery, sharing and communication. Just like this dialogue which, when you listen, makes you an active part of the conversation and constitutes the best remedy to any illness.

I dedicate this music to all the people who see the sky through their hospital window and to those that stand at their side.
