Hailing from Texas, Jim began his music career after he returned from a stint in Vietnam. He began as a backing vocalist, working with such diverse artists as the Doodletown Pipers and Stevie Wonder. After a couple of releases on Bell, Jim signed with Chelsea Records in 1975 and scored with “Swing Your Daddy” on the label’s Roxbury subsidiary. The disc reached #10 on the Hot-100 and #4 in the UK. The album, “Swing Your Daddy” reached #179 and Jim had two further entries on the Hot-100, “House Of Strangers” and “I’m On Fire”, a cover of the UK hit by 5000 Volts.
His session work continued - working with such artists as Boz Scaggs, Keith Moon, Leo Sayer and Starship.
Writer, Kenny Nolan was a house producer at Chelsea Records. An accomplished songwriter, he wrote Frankie Valli’s #1 hit, “My Eyes Adored You” with Bob Crewe.
