“HARPER VALLEY P.T.A.” by JEANNIE C. RILEY was recorded on the last Friday night in July 1968. The song went on to sell well over 8 Million copies worldwide. Jeannie C. Riley became the first female to top both the Country and Pop charts simultaneously. The CMA awarded Jeannie C. Riley with the “Single Record of the Year” and The Grammy Awards presented her with a Grammy for “Best Female Country Vocal Performance”. A variety Television Special was then produced titled “Harper Valley U.S.A.” co-hosted by Jeannie C. Riley and Jerry Reed. In 2019, Jeannie C. Riley’s recording of “Harper Valley P.T.A.” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Thank You Tom T. Hall for writing such a masterpiece and to Jeannie C. Riley for giving it life.

This video is a tribute to the ALBUM: Jeannie C. Riley “Harper Valley P.T.A.” that spent 30 weeks on the Billboard Album charts. The album is packed with amazing songs and a few of them revisit the familiar characters from the town of Harper Valley. There are touching songs like “No Brass Band” and “Run Jeannie Run”. Most agree, that the follow up to Harper Valley, should have been “The Cotton Patch” and also a haunting ballad that was recorded the exact same night as Harper Valley, titled “The Ballad of Louise”. An amazing album by and amazing singer/songwriter JEANNIE C. RILEY.
