2:02 Allegro
Mouret, a decorated composer of opera for the French aristocracy, dedicated the four movements of this First Suite to the young Louis Auguste de Bourbon, grandson of the late King Louis XIV and much touted hero of the Austro-Turkish Wars (1716-1718). The fanfares were supposedly performed on the ground of Versailles before members of the royal family including King Louis XV and his entourage.
The original MIDI file was compiled by and uploaded to IMSLP.org by Michel Rondeau. I added violins and oboes to the orchestral ensemble as was customary for the full complement of the Versailles court band.
