Description
JAPANESE FOUR SEASONS - New Vivaldi Ensemble
Baroque music generally refers to European music from the 17th century to the mid-18th century, but at that time Japan was in a period of national isolation, as it wasn't until the Meiji period that European music entered Japan in its proper form. European music during the Meiji period was already in the Romantic era, and therefore baroque music is not found in Japanese works. To fill this gap, I arranged melodies that all Japanese people know and transformed it into baroque music. Some pieces are actual compositions rather than arrangements. If even people who don't usually listen to classical music can naturally immerse themselves in the world of baroque music, I will have achieved my goal. Following Vivaldi's Le Quattro Stagioni, I have chosen a three-movement structure ("fast-slow-fast'' tempi) for each season.

SPRING
"Sakura Sakura"
It was originally a koto piece, but during the Meiji period, lyrics were added to it and people
loved singing it, and as a result, it is well known even to foreigners as a representative Japanese
melody. The harpsichord, which resembles the sound of the taishokoto, comes into play.
