When I was serving as stake primary music leader, and simultaneously preparing our daughter to be baptized, I felt inspired to write a song about the covenants we make at baptism. I wasn't sure how I was going to do it, but a few days later, that same daughter came home from primary activity days with a handout that had two columns; the covenants we make with Heavenly Father and what He covenants to bless us with us in return. It was like an answer to prayers. I knew right then I would format the song as a polyphony (like Janice Kapp Perry's "A Child's Prayer"). I tried to include as many scriptural phrases as possible in hopes to enhance our understanding of the baptismal covenants we make and renew each week "to follow Jesus Christ." It brings me so much joy when I hear others sing this song for baptisms or primary programs. I would love if you would tag me or let me know when you sing it. ~ erica
