Description

‘폭풍’이라는 뜻의 템페스트는 셰익스피어의 마지막 희곡의 제목이다. 배신과 시련, 절치부심 그리고 복수를 담고 있고 특히 마술을 사용하는 장면에서 공개 재판을 진행하며 대중들을 좌지우지하는 주인공 요한이 연상되기도 한다.
왜곡 많은 환경에서 자란 요한의 어두웠던 과거와 이후에 역동적이고 강렬하게 변모하는 그의 삶을 음악적으로 표현하는 데 중점을 뒀다. 전체적으로 비트가 묵직하게 실린 가운데, 전반부는 요한의 어릴적 슬픈 모습을 멜랑콜리한 감성으로, 중반부 이후에는 힘있게 변하는 내면을 밴드 허클베리핀의 스타일로 표현했다.
가사에서 드러내고 싶었던 주제는 ‘빛과 어둠’ 그리고 ‘변화’이다. 자신이 선택할 수 없는 과거로부터 스스로 원하는 삶의 모습으로 바뀌는 것은 누구에게나 기적 같은 일. 어둠의 세계에서 빛의 세계로 변하는 과정에서 이끌어주는 존재로 미지의 ‘너’를 설정했다.
