Description
The melody of green woods of truigha is well-known throughout ireland by many different names (“Edmund of the hill“, “More no beg“ and „Colonel O‘Gara“ are other aliases). The name “Truigha" refers to an area near Glaslough that was once covered in lush forests. However, the extensive woodland has long since disappeared, making the tune a poignant tribute to a landscape lost long ago.
