I was trying to decide what would be the best video to post next, as this is the first video I've released since I reached 100,000 subscribers (THANK YOU), and I wondered, what do my subs want to see? So I noticed there's been lots of comments asking for more Zelda covers (ok, you convinced me!) - and recently I've received quite a few comments on my 2015 Fairy Fountain video, with a lot of them saying things like, "play this at 1.25 speed," or, "I wish this looped more times" ...so I figured I could do something about that. This new version is both faster, and loops a full three times before fading out. You're welcome!
I always wanted to be able to play Fairy Fountain at true tempo, which varies for different games in the series, but for Ocarina of Time (which is where this transcription comes from), that's 80bpm. I have written about this on social media before but you really have no idea just how much work it's taken to make playing this at 80bpm a reality. This has to be one of the hardest things I've ever had to play - although it's a short loop, the left hand jumps between the bass notes and the middle accompanying line are absolutely INSANE at full speed, and the right hand also has to jump on a few occasions, and contort into some horrible spidery shapes right at the top of the harp (where there's not much space for the hand!), whilst maintaining a totally consistent and metronomic stream of semiquavers RELENTLESSLY. Honestly. I worked on my technique for over ten years before it started to seem like it might ever be possible to play this so fast! And I'm so glad I did.
