Description
The crystal-voiced soprano Amelita Gallii-Curci was one of the most famed coloratura sopranos of her time, but in my opinion what she really excelled most at was in the repertory of lyric roles and particularly songs. Her very light and pure leggero voice sounds very charming and youthful, and there is an irresistible beauty in her legato piani phrases.
This is the second part of a special selection of recordings of Galli-Curci with sound cleaned and enhanced by me. The songs you will hear now come from diverse nations:
1) UNITED STATES: "My old Kentucky Home", by Stephen Foster [0:00]
2) RUSSIA: "Solovey/The Nightingale", by Alexander Alabiev [2:25]
3) NORWAY: "Solveig's Song", from Peer Gynt, by Edvard Grieg [5:28]
