Description
Written by Frank Slay and Bob Crewe.
Great rocker from Freddy Cannon with a Bo Diddley type beat. The disc reached #51 on the Hot-100, while the b-side, “Opportunity” bubbled under at #114.
Freddy had ten more hits on Swan (including the #3 charting, “Palisades Park” in 1962) before moving on to Warners in late 1963.
"Buzz Buzz a Diddle It" was revived by the UK rockabilly group, Matchbox in 1980 and they scored a # 22 hit with their version.
Another song in the Bob Crewe catalog. He and Frank Slay also wrote “The Urge” and “Oh Gloria” for Freddy and “Pony Express” for Danny & The Juniors. A little over two years later, Bob would begin partnering with Bob Guadio to deliver all those great songs to the 4 Seasons, starting with “Big Girls Don’t Cry” in late 1962.
