Birds in the woodland,
The fish in the river,
And I must go mad;
I walk with much sorrow
For the best of bone and blood.

Blossoms on the bough,
The flowers in the earth,
Yet I must endure cold;
Great woe I have enough,
For love has me in his grasp.

Planets in the spheres,
My lady in the hall,
And I must remain in slavery;
Much grief I face and bear;
By her I stand or fall.
