The roots are the underground part of a plant and absorb water when the plant is thirsty. Next up, the roots bring the nutrients up into the stem. The stem brings the water to the flowers and carries the nutrients to the rest of the plant. Finally the leaves! The leaves collect the sunlight and Photosynthesise to prepare food for plants, by using water and carbon dioxide in the presence of sunlight. This whole process is called photosynthesis.
