FaKruTu Dakar Edition is a musical experience stretching from Dakar to Amsterdam, featuring established musicians from Senegal, the Netherlands and the US.
Fakrutu is a witty guitar trio. Inspired by the angularity of Thelonious Monk, the harmonies of Igor Stravinsky, the sound of contemporary electronic music and African beats, they embark on a journey of discovery in a new sonic universe. Jazz with prok and twang, as they like to call it.
In the Dakar Edition, the trio experiments with Senegalese guitar music, percussion and vocals by top musicians Omar Ka, Bao Sissoko and Oke Sene. This partnership has built up an enormous reputation with energetic, warm, soulful shows that lift the audience.
