ARIRANG, Polyphonic Variations. I wrote these variations on the theme of the well-known Korean folk song Arirang, using the greatest possible number of polyphonic techniques, including opposing directions, mirror reflection, canon, and even the very unusual form of a Möbius strip. Despite all this complexity, I tried to the keep individual variations harmonious and pleasing to the listener’s ears.
